Q: What is the best fertilizer to use for palm trees?

A:

Palms have different nutritional requirements than other landscape plants. Lush green growth will result from using a fertilizer specifically for palms.

You should fertilize areas within 30 feet of large established palms with a fertilizer that contains an equal amount of Nitrogen and Potassium (typically 2-3 times more N and K than Phosphorous).  Keep in mind that palms are highly susceptible to various potentially fatal micro-nutrient deficiencies.  This means that any fertilizer you apply should also contain 1%–2% iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn), plus small amounts of zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) and boron (B).

Consult your local Target Specialty Products representative for specific recommendations based on your soil type and palm species.
