Get the Power of More with MGK’s NyGuard IGR

An insect growth regulator (IGR) is one of the most important solutions in a PMP’s toolbox. By including a product that interferes with an insect’s growth, PMPs can achieve long-term control by preventing future pest populations from occurring.

And MGK is helping PMPs save time and money with NyGuard® IGR Concentrate. This versatile product breaks the life cycle of more than 50 pests, including cockroaches, fleas, mosquitoes, ants and flies.

Because NyGuard is effective on multiple pests and can be used both indoors and outdoors, PMPs can do more with one product, increasing efficiency and reducing time spent on accounts. Plus, NyGuard provides more output per bottle (up to 120 finished gallons per 480 ml bottle), which saves money.

NyGuard’s active ingredient is pyriproxyfen, a specific type of IGR known as a Juvenile Hormone Mimic (JHM). Insects exposed to a JHM experience an unnatural surge in their juvenile hormone, resulting in incorrect development.

Because IGRs are specific to hormones and biological processes unique to insects, there is more flexibility in use sites. For example, pyriproxyfen has EPA reduced risk status in food handling, meaning it can be used in more sensitive areas.

NyGuard can also be used in combination with an adulticide (if allowed on the product label) to affect both mature and immature insects. MGK includes NyGuard in the formulation of some of our perimeter products, like Sumari® Insecticide and OneGuard® Concentrate, to achieve quick kill of adult insects and prevent juvenile insects from reaching maturity, helping PMPs achieve more complete control.
