Sticking with the tried and true for effective control of ants

When it comes to treating ants, sometimes the old tried-and-true methods give us the best results.

As we know, ants are extremely social creatures. This social behavior can be disrupted with the use of pyrethroids. And while the battle against ants can be won most of the time, you don’t reduce cost with “most of the time” treatments, which is why the goal should be to get as close to 100% control as possible.

Termidor® SC termiticide/insecticide and Termidor Foam termiticide/insecticide can help pest management professionals (PMPs) meet this goal. These solutions take advantage of ant social behavior through the Termidor brand’s genuine transfer effect to directly affect the whole colony, rather than leaving the part (the nest) that can come back to haunt PMPs.

Termidor SC termiticide/insecticide’s on-structure applications can make all the difference in reducing that extra ant callback percentage. Use as follows:

  • One foot up and one foot out from the structure*
  • Apply in 18-inch-wide bands around windows, doors, vents, pipes, or other exterior openings
  • Apply to exterior surfaces or into structural voids of structures where ants enter, crawl and hide or trail, or, where nests are found

*Note: In California, apply 6 inches up and 6 inches out from where the foundation meets the ground. See product label for more California-specific restrictions. Always read and follow label directions.

Together, Termidor SC termiticide/insecticide and Termidor Foam termiticide/insecticide provide the most effective ant control product combination and create a treated zone of non-repellent protection around the home.

For more versatility, include Alpine® WSG water soluble granule insecticide, which also takes advantage of ants’ social behavior to spread within the colony to cause high mortality rates. Its label allows PMPs to utilize it alongside the Termidor products. In addition, here’s a useful tip: when using Termidor SC termiticide/insecticide, the number of applications can be strategically spread out through the year by reducing the concentration from 0.06% to 0.03% (except in California, where only 0.03% application is allowed, four times a year, and prohibited during the rainy season. (See the product label for more information).

For ants, sticking with the tried-and-true, like Termidor SC termiticide/insecticide and Termidor Foam termiticide/insecticide, will reduce callback occurrences, which leads to greater customer satisfaction and more time in your day to manage other pest or business opportunities.
