Bio-Sanitation Can Help Expand Your Business

cleanout biofilm in drains

Consider adding bio-sanitation to your list of services for both commercial and residential accounts. Standard sanitation practices often do not address the need for removal of organic buildup, especially in hard to reach and unseen areas. Supplementing regular cleaning with bio-sanitation creates an enhanced sanitation program in both commercial kitchens and residential accounts.

What is bio-sanitation and how can it help PMPs as a service add-on?

Bio-sanitation is the process of using beneficial microbes to clean, reduce buildup and break down FOG (fats, oils, grease), carbohydrates and proteins. Once the microbes contact favorable conditions (a moist environment with organic debris), they quickly germinate and produce active colonies. These activated microbes continuously produce enzymes to digest and consume organic debris from food and other sources, and over time can eliminate build-up as well as help prevent the source of odors. If conditions turn unfavorable, such as a dry environment with little organic material, the microbe colonies revert into dormant spores, but will germinate and produce new active cells to start the process again if conducive conditions return – so a bio-sanitation product continues to work if conditions remain favorable for the microbes.

Bio-sanitation also eliminates biofilm, a primary shield for pathogens and a source for fly development. Harmful bacteria cells feed on organic debris and form this thick, slimy substance which shields the bacteria. (Think slimy rocks in a stream!) Remove the biofilm and you remove that protection.

Another benefit of bio-sanitation is that it is a natural process, not a pesticide, which reduces risks to people and is more environmentally responsible.

What is Foam Fresh Bio-Sanitation Foam?

The seven strains of beneficial microbes in Foam Fresh Bio-Sanitation Foam help break down biofilm and organic debris as well as eliminate odors. In fact, under ideal conditions, Foam Fresh's beneficial microbes will double in population every 20 minutes until their organic food source is consumed!

Foam Fresh comes in an 18 oz. aerosol can with both a full cone spray actuator and a drain actuator. The drain actuator uses a 3.3mm 17" semi-rigid hose that comes with every can that applies foam deeply into floor and sink drains or into tight cracks and crevices. This hose can push past p-traps and even fit through the smallest drain plate grids, allowing you to treat without time-wasting plate removal. Use the full cone spray actuator to spray Foam Fresh directly on surfaces to break down grime in commercial kitchens, garbage receptacles, behind equipment or under cabinets and more. Both actuators are used with an up-down valve, giving you 360º flexibility from any position.

Both regular cleaning and bio-sanitation programs are effective ways to get rid of organic build-up, but bio-sanitation is not a cleaning replacement – it’s a beneficial tool that allows rapid, deeper cleaning. Work with your customers to add Foam Fresh Bio-Sanitation Foam to their regular cleaning programs.
